Quiz interactivo — To Be
🧠 ¿Ya dominas el Verbo To Be?
___ she a student or a teacher?
They ___ not at home yesterday.
I ___ 16 years old.
___ your parents from Mexico?
Ejercicio 1
¿Cuándo uso WAS y cuándo WERE?
Respuesta
WAS con: I, He, She, It (pronombres singulares). "I was tired. She was happy." WERE con: You, We, They (plurales y you). "They were at school. You were right." Truco: si en español dices "era/estaba" (singular) → WAS. Si dices "eran/estaban" → WERE.
Ejercicio 2
¿Por qué "I am 15 years old" y no "I have 15 years"?
Respuesta
En español decimos "tengo 15 años" (verbo tener). En inglés la edad usa TO BE: "I AM 15 years old." Lo mismo con otras expresiones: hunger = am hungry (no have hunger), cold = am cold, afraid = am afraid. Es un falso cognado estructural muy frecuente en el COMIPEMS.
Ejercicio 3
¿Cómo se forman las preguntas con To Be?
Respuesta
Se invierte el orden sujeto-verbo: "She IS a doctor" → "IS she a doctor?" "They WERE at school" → "WERE they at school?" Con palabras WH: "Where ARE they from?" "How old IS she?" No se necesita DID en las preguntas con To Be — el verbo ya está al inicio.
